Pricing: What can you expect to pay?|
Your rent is based upon your income. There are income reductions for the elderly and for the disabled. Senior and disabled tenants are also able to reduce their income with regular medical expenses. These are expenses that are an ongoing monthly expenditure. Families receive reductions for dependents and for child care expenses. Due to these reductions, rent rates vary.
Our facility consists of the following units:
Senior/Disabled: 100 units (90 1-bedroom, 10 2-bedroom)
Family: 50 units (6 1-bedroom, 28 2-bedroom, 14 3-bedroom, 2 4-bedroom)
There is an application process that prospective tenants must complete. This consists of an application, permission to run a criminal background (this is necessary for any household member above the age of 18), and an authorization for us to verify the information provided on the application.
Upon gathering all the information, the application and any attachments are reviewed by the Executive Director. If approval is granted, the tenant's name is placed on the waiting list for the appropriate size unit. When a unit is available, Clinton Housing Authority will contact the next person on the list to see if they are still interested in housing.
There is a lease that is signed, along with various other documents. There is a required annual review of income and allowable deductions to accurately calculate rent and subsidy amounts.
We do require a security deposit. At least one-third of this deposit must be paid at the time of move-in. The balance can be paid during the following two months. Required security deposits are as follows:
